Ashley Greene and Sebastian Stan star as young couple Kelly and Ben who are being tormented by strange goings on in their new home. When they look into events deeper, they realise that they are out of their depth and call in paranormal investigator Patrick (Tom Felton). That’s all I really want to say about the plot, as it takes a basic premise and fuses it with a real-life event to make quite an effective little movie.
The less you know about this film beforehand the better. It had a long road to the screen (it was delayed for over 2 years after Warner Brothers ended its relationship with production company Dark Castle) and I suspect it has changed quite a bit along the way, but I really liked it. It’s straightforward, to the point and it clocks in at 83 minutes (and even then, almost 15 minutes of that is an extended end credits sequence similar to that of Darkness Falls) so it doesn’t outstay it’s welcome.
OVERALL SUMMARY
It looks really good, the young cast does well and it has an awesome score by tomandandy. What more could you want? This could have been a big box-office hit but as it stands it’s a hidden gem.
