This teen version of ‘Sleepy Hollow’ was quite enjoyable just before Halloween, but would probabaly be bland at any other time of the year.
The excellent Kevin Zegers of ‘Wrong Turn’ and ‘Dawn of the Dead’ fame stars as Ian Cranston a descendant of Ichabod Crane. When Ian and his family move to The Hollow they awaken the headless horseman who has been waiting for a Crane ever since Ichabod escaped.
Of course no one believes loony old Stacy Keach the alky gravedigger, but the teens living in The Hollow are about to find out the truth about the legend of Sleepy Hollow.
The film started with a really nice title sequence and managed to be entertaining what with a good cast, suitably creepy locations, a decent score and some nice photography, but it was never really scary.
A little predictable in some scenes and little cheesy in others, the film was fun and at times a little bit risque considering that it is aimed at a younger audience.
My only peeve was Nick Carter, as you just knew that he was playing himself, but at least you were rooting for someone to die.
OVERALL SUMMARY
The Hollow was a good film that you could watch at Halloween and have some fun with, but it was nothing special, although I did enjoy picking out all the little genre references.
