I finally managed to see this for the first time and found myself disappointed after hearing about how great it was.
Terry O’Quinn plays a creepy psycho in search of the perfect family. In a bid to achieve his dream he kills his family and then moves on, marrying a widow and moving in with her and her teenage daughter Stephanie.
As always everything seems too good to be true and it all ends in dramatic and bloody fashion.
Terry O’Quinn is very good as creepy Jerry, but I was shocked at the normally superb Jill Schoelen as I was aware that she had received an award for her performance in this, and it isn’t even her best work.
The film is alright but there have been far better thrillers with similar themes.
The most shocking thing about this film is that we see Terry O’Quinn and Jill Schoelen nude!! I thought this was supposed to be a family film!!
OVERALL SUMMARY
A decent watch but nowhere nearly as good as people make out. I suspect that someone saw this when they were 8 and have great memories of it. If that person were to watch it now they would be sadly disappointed.
