“The best British chiller since The Descent” proclaims the cover art. “I highly doubt it” thought the cynic in me. I’m pleased to report however that for me, it very nearly was.
Whilst driving to a music festival, Tom decides to surprise his new girlfriend Lucy with a night in a nice hotel. As darkness descends, the couple gets lost in a warren of twisty turny country roads and that’s only the beginning of their nightmare. As tempers flare, the couple become pawns in an unknown assailant’s deadly game.
I really liked this film. It was really well crafted, shot in an unusual style and well-acted. I was kept guessing throughout, it was genuinely tense in parts and I had no clue as to what was going on or coming next.
OVERALL SUMMARY
A true indie-gem, In Fear came out of nowhere and whipped the rug from under my feet. If only Eden Lake had never been made this truly would be the best British horror film since The Descent. Go in blind and enjoy the ride!
